Man, I'm feeling the years creeping up on me like you wouldn't believe! Next year, 2005, will mark the 20th Anniversary of the Garbage Pail Kids! By the Gods, I remember getting them when I was a kid still and now it's 20 fraggin' years already!
Let's see, we've had the 20th Anniversary of A Nightmare on Elm Stree and Transformers in 2004...
Of course, 2005 is also the 25th Anniversary of Friday the 13th...
...where does the time go, you know? Well, I've had some good times collecting GPKs. I remember when my sister and I were young, our mom would call around local party stores asking if they had the new series in.
If they did, she would load us in the car, drive to the party store and buy one unopened box! She would then divide them up evenly between us and we would always end up with a full set right from the get go. It was great, especially since we really had noone to trade with since all the other kids' parents were tossing their cards in the trash.
And now, 20 years later the legends are back. Like the advertisment for the All-New Series 1 said: Before South Park, Before Jackass...There was...GARBAGE PAIL KIDS!
I would have never thought that at 29, nearly 30, that I would be collecting NEW GPKs! I mean All-New Series 4 is coming out next year with (I hope) a bunch of stuff to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Kids!
