State of the Union

I know it was a bit ago but I havent said anything here about it yet.
Well, MORE good things said by our President, and great show of respect by a grateful Iraqi.
I loved how the Dems were so rude with things they dont agree with, like fixing Social Security. It's funny how they NOW hate allowing the people to choose theri Social Security plan, they call it privatization when it's a fully voluntary program, and one that needs to take place by the way, but 6 years ago they LOVED the idea and admitted that Social Security needed to be fixed...now they claim it's fine.

Here is former President Bill Clinton on January 19, 1999 during a State of the Union Address:

"The best way to keep Social Security a rock-solid guarantee is not to make drastic cuts in benefits, not to raise payroll tax rates, not to drain resources from Social Security in the name of saving it. Instead, I propose that we make the historic decision to invest the surplus to save Social Security. Specifically, I propose that we commit 60% of the budget surplus for the next 15 years to Social Security, investing a small portion in the private sector just as any private or state pension would do. This will earn a higher return and keep Social Security sound for 55 years."

Clinton was proposing private accounts with that line and the Dems cheered it! Amazing what a difference 6 years makes huh?
You know what the difference between now and then is? Then, it was a bunch of libs talking about fixing a program that hadnt changed much since it was created some 70 years ago. Now we have a Republican who actually wants to do something about it.

Want to know what I think? I love the idea of private accounts. I love the idea that I could actually be saving for MY retirement and not paying for the retirement of an older generation. You realize it takes the wages of 3 tax payers to pay for 1 retiree? Now, someone please explain to me how that's not a broken system.

Beyond that, America is doing great. More jobs, a rebust economy, and we have done what we aimed to do in Iraq and Afganistan. The libs hate it because they would rather we cower and worship at the alter of the corrupt and outdated United Nations.
